(Update) Android Pay is now available in Poland, Ireland, as well as Japan.

(Update 13/12/2016): Japan is the next country to have access to the world-famous mobile payment system. Android users is Japan will be able to use the platform at over 470,000 locations nationwide that already accept the Rakuten Edy payment system.

It is also believed that a release in Canada is imminent after a user reported being able to add their Scotiabank Visa card to the Android Pay app, even though the country is not supported. Google commented on this matter, “We’re excited to bring Android Pay to Canadians, however it is currently not available in Canada.”

(Update 08/12/2016): Ireland is the next country to accept Android’s mobile transaction system. To start with, Android Pay will be available to customers of two banks – AIB and KBC – however, more will be available in the future. To use the system, customers need to have a valid Visa or MasterCard.

Android Pay is now available in Poland. It is the second country in Europe, after the UK, to adopt the mobile payment platform. Owners of Android devices will be able to use the system at any store with NFC enabled hardware; in Poland this equates to over 400,000 locations across the country.

Currently, Android Pay can only be used by customers of three banks; Alior Bank, Bank Zachodni WBK, and T-Mobile Banking Services. In the near future, mBank will be supported, and more banks will follow on later.

At launch, users in Poland will not be able to use the platform to complete payments in apps. Users can complete purchases at terminals in shops and in-app support is expected to arrive later on.

This launch means that Android Pay is now available in the USA, UK, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, New Zealand and, now, Poland. As for future releases, it is currently unknown where the mobile payment platform will be available next.
